So, with a little elbow grease I went to work. It took me about six months to find the design that fit the constraints I outlined. I got great advice from some female friends and strange looks from my brothers. I made the first few by hand, sewed 'em myself, and gave 'em out. The response was immediate and definitive- folks loved 'em!!
Everyone wanted one (women and men!) and I just couldn't sew fast enough (I learned to sew in fifth grade by weaving yarn through manila paper to create Abe Lincoln's beard).
I began silk-screening more and more cases, enlisted the help of my mom to whip a few through her sewing machine and signed up my grandma Joya to stuff the period charts in the bottom pouch (she was happy to do it during the commercials of All My Children).
